Character Ink's Tom Isaksen shares the whole process of creating a character from scratch.
from Youtube:
I decided to create a video game character and record the whole process as part of a course I teach in Characters for Games... A female Togruta Jedi Master, inspired by Shaak Ti. 23 hours to create, compressed to 6 minutes of video.
Final Character is around 13.000 triangles using 1 Diffuse, Specular, Normal and Gloss map.
Created to work in Unreal Engine (UDK) and presentation using Marmoset Toolbag render.
I created the character with today's games in mind, so something that can run in your average game engine used for most PS3 or Xbox 360 games.
My knowledge comes from working in the games industry for several years where I have created 100s of characters for various AAA games, including the Hitman series.
Tools: Zbrush 4r3, 3ds Max 2012, Photoshop CS5, xNormal.
