Nice thread. It seems like you are going for a small scene, this means you can really go into details with every single part of the picture. Make a really detailed dragon, your sketch looks awesome so far and the modelling also looks great. Also the envoirment, here you can make some really nice textures for your stones and so on, thats what i love about small scenes, that you can go into details.

But anyway, i like your dragon very much. Iam also going to model a dragon in the next few weeks for my DND picture.

      Keep up the pace dude...

      Thank you very much Nasty!
Yes, I am going for the entire scene. I'll more than likely be painting the background sky and clouds... I'm not sure yet how I'm going to handle the trees and shrubs.
One of the things I'm doing is putting more detail at the focal point of the image in order to (hopefully) draw the eye there. The rocks will more than likely be fairly non-detailed in geometry and I'll let the texturing fill in the rest. I'm in the middle of modeling them now, so I'll see how that works out.

      Cheers!
      Chris

i did some experiments with a humming bird concept once, but one needs to have in mind the overall weight too, and considering that wywerns are usualy depicted as velociraptors of the dragons they would have more powerful wings for the old snatch and fly tactics...though i see u r well familiarised with the topic of dragons,,keep it up mate

Heres a rough comp of the scene. Love Biped!
Need to start on the environment next. Then the dudes...
Then I get to take this bad boy into Zbrush (perhaps) for detailing. W00t.

      Anyway... all for now.

      Cheers,
      Chris

      Hey all...
It's been a while since I've updated my posting... but I feel that my Wyvern idea isn't going anywhere.
I've thought about my idea for the last couple of days and I've been jotting down some other ideas and quick sketches. I've decided to switch ideas to something else. There is still plenty of time to get it done, so I'm not worried.
There are a LOT of dragons (or dragon-like creatures) being considered as subject matter, and a lot of the submissions involve some sort of conflict, so I thought I'd head in another direction.
I'll post some of my quick sketches later this evening.

      Cheers!

Hey all... I have been so busy with work and freelance lately that I've not been able to do much on my entry... this sucks big time. Also, I can't see it letting up for a while... so, I am withdrawing my entry into the contest. *sigh*

I wish you all the best of luck in the contest! There are some fantastic artists in this community.

      Cheers All,
      Chris.
