      I would like to know how one would give diffen't names to different objects(eg. one sphere called lower part x,and a second one called mid part x.)and be able to select the one you want to work on after naming them.

      It's easy. Select the object and press F9 for edit object properties. Here you can change the name for an object block (OB).
